Election day looms ever closer. With only three days to go most people who intend to vote will have made up their minds. The only task remaining is to encourage Labour supporters to actually vote. The weather looks like it could be pleasant on Thursday, so that helps. It is still unclear what might emerge from these elections—local elections can be more complex affairs than general elections, given a variety of factors such as receiving much less media attention, particular local issues, low turnouts and so on. So it is that there are few predictions around. One irony that has made me laugh is that Labour’s high command are saying we shouldn’t expect massive gains ‘since we did so well in 2018’ - the last time these elections were fought. And who was our leader at that time? Yes, the very same Jeremy Corbyn that Labour’s high command are so keen to expunge from all memory.
