A table for Sir Rudy, please!

Many of the leftwing news websites I subscribe to refuse to take advertising, so they frequently have fundraising drives, which like advertising can also get quite irritating even if one can’t begrudge them for it. But direct appeals for funding have sunk to new depths—on the rightwing end of the scale, naturally. I’m referring to none other than Rudy Guiliani’s desperate attempts to stave off being thrown onto the sidewalk, having lost a $148 million libel suit against two election workers he falsely accused of tampering with the 2020 results. His target is $250,000 and it appears he has so far raised nearly half. Donors have told him he is a victim, the same complaint they have made about Trump’s many criminal and other charges. They believe he is being victimised because of his unflagging support for Trump. At the same time they don’t seem to want to ask why Trump has so far failed to donate a cent to Rudy’s piggy bank. Only in New York . . . At least as Rudy tramps the streets, he’ll still have his honorary knighthood.
